Women’s Day Celebration - 30th March 2021

Women’s Day is celebrated every year on March 8 to create an equal platform for everyone irrespective of all the gender discrimination & promotion and empowerment of women to all socio – economic arenas of the world in modern global era. Women’s day was celebrated on Government College of Teacher Education on March 8 and an exclusive day was dedicated to its celebration and expression on March 30th, 2021. The programme was organised by Women’s Cell of the institution. The event was coordinated by Mrs. Shiny Abraham, Department of English. The student coordinators for the programme were Krishna S Jayan, Chandana R, Sister Sajini and Prasad S P of English Department. The Programme was titled ‘Wings to a Billion Dreams’. The Event venue was held in seminar hall of the institution. The celebration was scheduled from 1:30 pm to 3:30 pm. The chief guest of the day was Smt. Sreedevi T, the one and only certified snake catcher in the state.
 The function was inaugurated by our Principal Dr. Rajeshwari K and followed by her presidential address. The first half of the programme was talk session of our chief guest and her video display of snake catching. The main event from student’s part to the function was the fusion dramatic entertainment named ‘VAMA’. The 30 minutes musical drama was an anthology related with varying dimensions of women’s problem in our society. The drama was conceptualized and directed by Vishnu S Nair &Nandakripa of Department of Geography and Malayalam respectively. The cast of the drama were Nandakripa, Vishnu S Nair, Ashmita Stanley, Vishishta, Akhil Mohan, Darshana V S, AmalJyothish, Nithya, Suresh Kumar, Prasad S P and AnaghaA S. The Anthology was themed around social issues like domestic violence, Public harassment of women, Acid attack and child abuse. Each issue was segmented into separate stories titled ‘Kshithi’, ‘Dhara’, ‘Ila’ and ‘Siya’. The show was gifted with the reflection of the rest of the students through candle lights as a symbol of respect and gratitude to all our mothers and women community of this world. The programme and drama was well received by all the teachers and staff members making it a grand success.
