Inter-Collegiate Competitions - 9th and 10th March 2021
The Inter-Collegiate Competitions organized by GCTE, Thiruvananthapuram was conducted on 9th and 10th of March, 2021. Mrs.Shiba.T.C. Asst. Professor was the convener of the programme. The main events were Quiz, Debate and Elocution. The inaugural ceremony was held in UGC Hall at 9:30 am. Haripriya. R., First Year BEd student sang the prayer song. Lini Suri L, First Year BEd student delivered the welcome speech. Our Principal Rajeswari madam inaugurated the competitions and gave away the inaugural speech. Dr.A.V.Sujith, Vice-Principal and Dr.V.K.Santhosh Kumar, Asst. Professor bestowed felicitations.
The Quiz Competition was the first event. It was named as ‘Keraleeyam 2021.’The quiz master was Dr.AjayapuramJyothishkumar, Asst. Professor, MG College, Thiruvananthapuram. There were 10 teams representing ten BEd training colleges of University of Kerala. After the screening test, five teams got selection. There were total six rounds in the competition. All the questions were based on the facts of Kerala covering History, Geography, Literature, Films, Politics, Current Affairs etc. At the end of the intense competition, KUCTE Nedumangadu stood in first position, CSI College of Education, Parassala and GCTE, Thiruvananthapuram became the first and second runners up respectively. Prof. Jacob Mathew sir, Former Principal, GCTE, Thiruvananthapuram, distributed the prizes to the winners.
The Elocution and Debate competitions were conducted on 10th March, 2021. There were 12 contestants from six colleges affiliated to the University of Kerala. The judges of the competition were MadavoorSasikumar sir, former teacher in Model School, Thiruvananthapuram and Aakashavani Scriptwriter and Sivakumar sir, former English-Science teacher in Model School, Thiruvananthapuram. The participants for the Elocution competition were given the topic ‘Online Education: Before and After Covid Pandemic.’ Everyone spoke extremely well with clarity and pointed out the contemporary relevance of the topic. KUCTE, Nedumangadu secured the first prize and was awarded Prof. Mary Xavier Ever Rolling Trophy. SN Training College, Nedunkandum and St.Thomas Training College, Mukkolackal were positioned first runner up and second runner up respectively. Our Principal presented the prizes to the winners.
The Debate competition started by 1 am. The topic for the competition was ‘Whether art subjects are as essential as academic ones and should be a part of the school curriculum.’ There were 7 teams for the competition. All the participants were students with equal caliber and potential but in the end some stood out shining brighter than the others. There were so many notable points presented by each team but the points presented by the winning team were the game changer. Finally, the Platinum Jubilee Memorial Ever- Rolling Trophy donated by Sri. MadhavanThampi was awarded to St.Thomas Training College, Mukkolackal. KUCTE, Nedumangadu and SN Training College, Nedunkandum became the first runner up and second runner up respectively. The best debater was also awarded. After the prize distribution, the judges addressed the audience. Dr.A.V.Sujith, Vice-Principal of our college delivered felicitations. After that, our Principal also addressed the gathering. Mrs. Shiba teacher proposed the vote of thanks. The programme concluded with the National Anthem.
